The Health Foundation Charity Road Race Learn to Run clinics are still СÀ¶ÊÓƵ offered Tuesday and Thursdays at 5:45 p.m. They are held at the YRHS parking lot. Anyone is welcome to join but must sign up for the Road Race in August. Clinics stress nutrition, stretching and pacing.



In last week's sports front page of Yorkton This Week, a story listing the names of local track and field athletes contained an error in the spelling of a competitor's first name. The story should have read Kyla Bassingthwaite. YTW apologizes for any confusion this may have caused.


The Yorkton Gridders Pee Wee football team is going to be starting practicing at the YRHS field in the middle of August, says head coach Jason Farrell. Registration information is as follows: anyone 13-years-of age and under as of Oct. 31, 2011, must be 135lbs or smaller, practices will take place four times per week and games will be played 1-2 per week. Farrell said the registration fee is set at $210, with options for payment currently available, notes Farrell. There is a $30 non-refundable registration fee (included in the $210) and is for insurance fees and administrative costs. Farrell said that league games start up the week of Aug. 20. To register, complete a sing-up sheet and return with a cheque or money order for $210 payable to: Yorkton Minor Football, 59 Cedarwood Cres, Yorkton, Sk, S3N 2V1. Registration information should be submitted as soon as possible.
