Registration for the start of the newest league in town is available at Hometown Source for Sports. The Saskatchewan Ball Hockey League is expanding into four new cities this spring/summer. Yorkton is among the expansion cities.


Registration for the start of the newest league in town is available at Hometown Source for Sports. The Saskatchewan Ball Hockey League is expanding into four new cities this spring/summer. Yorkton is among the expansion cities. The league will be called the Yorkton Ball Hockey League. Hometown Source for Sports is accpting applications for both team entries and individual entries. More information is available at www.saskballhockey.com. All participants are encouraged to bring shin guards and a mouthguard. The hockey season is expected to run beginning the 1st of May and will run until the middle of July with 16 games guaranteed.


The Yorkton Terriers have advanced will play in the 2011 Credit Union Cup beginning Fri (April 1) on La Ronge's home ice. Games 1-2 will be road games and Games 3-4 will be at the Farrell Agencies Arena Tuesday and Wednesday April 5-6.All games in the series are 7:30 p.m., start times. The finals matchup is the second meeting between the two teams. La Ronge won last year's series in six games which saw the sixth game go into overtime.


Sacred Heart and Yorkton Regional were both involved in regiional basketball action recently. Both teams won once and lost once. Yorkton Regional started out with a one-point victory over Prince Albert Carlton, 48-47, while Sacred Heart took Moose Jaw Peacock into overtime but fell 69-63. YRHS then lost to Saskatoon Hardy while Sacred Heart beat Melfort, 62-33. For details on games for both teams, see story on Page C15.


The Yorkton Curling Club recently held their annual men's bonspiel. Play was divided into four categories (A, B, C and D) Gerry Adam won the 'A' side, Mike McIntyre won the 'B' side, Larry Folk won the 'C' side and Lonnie Kelly won the 'D' side.
