The City of Yorkton parks staff has taken the initiative to implement a new sport. There is a course set up for nine-hole disc golf at Patrick Park on King St. Holes were filled recently and the course is ready for play. Brian Dudar, parks and arena manager, said he hopes to be able to hold a grand opening for the disc golf course sometime in the summer once he makes a few more additions.
The Saskatchewan Ball Hockey League has started up a ball hockey league in Yorkton and games are currently underway. Games this week are СÀ¶ÊÓƵ played tonight (Wednesday) and tomorrow. Games tonight are Rampage vs Soundwave at 7 p.m. and Jolt vs Red Alert at 8 p.m. Next week, games are on Monday (May 23) with Soundwave playing Jolt at 7 p.m., and Red Alert vs Rampage at 8 p.m. On May 24, the Pitbulls play the Huskies at 6 p.m. and the Terriers play the Hounds at 7 p.m.
The Charity Road Race Learn to Run clinics are СÀ¶ÊÓƵ held on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the Yorkton Regional High School parking lot, beginning at 5:45 p.m., both nights. If the weather is not in their favour, clinics will be held at the Gallagher Centre Flexihall.
The YRHS will be the site of two exhibition football games, scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at 4p.m. They will be playing against Brandon.
Deer Park Golf Course starts the season next weekend with their first golf tournament of the season. The Richie Hall Red Cross Golf Classic is scheduled for May 27. In June, the Parkland College Dollars for Scholars annual tournament takes place. Both tournaments are among the top turnouts.
The Alexander's Mens Wear Yorkton Junior Cardinals opened the season with three exhibition games over the weekend. They played a team from Manitoba in a doubleheader on Saturday and then went to Swan River on Sunday. For story, see Page C6.
