The season has started for the YRHS football team. They will play under the lights on Friday when they host the Martin Collegiate team Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Sacred Heart High School football team will play five games this season. They will start their season next Thursday afternoon. They will play against the Melville Cobras.


The Sacred Heart girls soccer team had their preseason start Aug. 31 when they hosted Hamiota (Manitoba) and won by a final score of 8-0. Raquel Hackman recorded the shutout. The girls' team will be playing in several tournaments this fall. They play at home in late September.


The Junior Terriers played their rookie exhibition match over the Labour Day weekend, beating Melville. They play again here on Friday against the Wolverines and will also host Estevan on Sunday afternoon. Yorkton is getting ready to open the season on Sept. 16 when they will host the Weyburn Red Wings at the Farrell Agencies Arena. Game time will be 7:30 p.m. The teams return to Weyburn the following night (Sept. 17).


The Parkland Racing Association will be holding their monthly race date on Sept. 21 at the Yellowhead International Speedway. The event is sponsored by Deluxe Motorworks and Wholesale Transmission and Differential. Racing begins at 2 p.m. Admission cost is $8 for those 13 years of age and over, $4 for those between 6-12 and those five years and under are admitted free of charge.
