Baseball playoffs are well underway in the СÀ¶ÊÓƵ East Senior Baseball League (SESBL).
The playoff matchups saw Willowbrook and Swan River go up against each other in a best-of-three series and the Yorkton Yankees played Melville, also in a best-of-three series.
As a result of winning the top two spots in league play, the Junior Cardinals and Canora Supers are each awarded a first-round bye. Canora completed their season back on July 6 in which they sought their 10th win of the season, and got it thanks to a 9-4 win over the Reds of Swan River.
The Alexander's Mens Wear Junior Cardinals claimed top spot in the league with a two-point finish over the Canora Supers. The Cardinals' final record stands at 11-2 with no ties. A home record of 4-2 and a flawless record of 7-0 and a whopping 143 runs scored and only 46 against.
Canora took second spot, going 10-3 with no ties, good for 20 points. Canora finished with a home record of 4-2.
Their road record was 6-1.
They had 113 runs scored throughout the season and 45 runs allowed.
The Willowbrook Royals finished in third place, at eight wins, five losses and 16 points overall.
Their home record was 4-2 and their road record was 4-3. The scored 99 runs through the season and gave up 57.
The Yorkton Yankees, in their second year of recent existence, put together a 7-5 record through 12 games and resulted in 14 points, to finish comfortably in fourth seed. They finished one game above .500 both at home and away from home, going 3-2 here and 4-3 away. They finished the season scoring 106 runs and allowing 73 against.
Finishing in fifth place was the Melville Bison. Through 12 games, Melville went 4-8, and finished with eight points in the standings. They also finished with an identical home/road record of 2-4.
The Bison scored 65 runs this season, and gave up 100.
The Parkland Padres came in fifth with a 1-5 record, having only competed in six games. Their lone victory came on home field. They crossed the plate 37 times this season, and allowed 72 and rounding out the 2011 SESBL standings was Swan River. In 13 games, they were the lone club to fail to achieve a victory, going 0-7 at home and 0-6 through their road games. They scored 39 runs, allowed 209.
