聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Kamsack Comprehensive Institute senior girls Spartans volleyball team chalked up another win last week, giving the team more confidence that it will do well at the first week of November when playoffs begin.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 On October 14, the Spartans won all three sets the team played against the Churchbridge team in Churchbridge.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Spartans have played two other exhibition games, winning all sets at both, and three tournaments.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In Kamsack against Churchbridge on September 28, the Spartans won all five sets played, and in Kamsack against Preeceville on October 5, they won all four sets.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The first tournament that the team attended was a 12-team competition in Melville September 25 and 26 and although Kamsack defeated Grenfell, the team split sets with Lemberg, Melville and Fort Qu鈥橝ppelle, but lost in points, and then lost to the Gull Lake team.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 At an eight-team tournament in Canora October 3 and 4, the Spartans ended up in third place after having defeated Norquay and Stobart A, losing to Kahkawistahaw, defeating Stobart B, loosing to Creighton and then defeating Canora.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 At an eight-team tournament in Swan River on October 9 and 10, the Spartans won the consolation final. The team placed third in its pool, defeating the MBCI Spartans and Winnipegosis and losing to teams from Ebb and Flow and Hapnot.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Spartans plan to compete in the Regina Christian Schools鈥 Invitational, which is a 16-team tournament 小蓝视频 played tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday and then will hope to place well at the Conference competition at the beginning of November.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t鈥檚 a pretty fresh team,鈥 said Alexis McGonigal, who coaches the team with Tracey Fedorchuk, alluding to the fact that many of the team members are new to the team. 鈥淲e have developed a lot over a short time.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淭he team leaves it all out on the floor, puts in lots of hard work and members exhibit a good commitment to the team.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited for next year because the majority of the players are expected to return and we鈥檒l only lose three, while this year we鈥檝e lost six players from last year,鈥 she said.
