The new school season is just barely underway but the senior girls soccer team already has one game under their belts, as well as one victory to start the 2011-12 season.

Not only did the game get played before classes even start but it also took place before September arrived.

Jeanne Fetsch is back for another year of coaching and by the way things went on Aug. 31 on home pitch, it has the makings of another strong year.

More than half of the team are Gr. 12 girls and they scored like it last Wednesday when they hosted Hamiota.

The team also held its first practice the day before.

Against Hamiota, Rita Fetsch scored three goals, Kaylee Ford kicked in two, while Leta Perepeluk, Hailey Richards and Kristen Jonassen all had one each.

Coach Fetsch said Raquel Hackman got the shutout in the SHHS net.

The tournament schedule for SHHS has also been released. SHHS will host their one home tournament of the season on the weekend of Sept. 23-24.

Before that, they head to Prince Albert (St. Mary) to open the season this weekend. They are in Moose Jaw the following weekend (Sept. 16-17). They host the weekend after (Sept 23-24), and the regular season concludes with a trip back to Prince Albert (Carlton). That tournament takes place on the final weekend of September.

Regional play is scheduled for October however the date has yet to be determined. If SHHS qualifies for SHSAA provincial action, it will be on the final weekend before Hallowe'en in Regina.
