RHEIN - There was the sound of thunder in the distance, and the rain did fall, but the Rhein Rockets and Wynyard Blues managed to finish their Richardson Pioneer Men’s Fastball League game Thursday.
As it turned out it was the Blues that brought the thunder as Greg Hill, Tayler Jordan, Josh Jordan, Ivon Kronlund, and Carson Fisher all hit home runs for Wynyard.
The Blues would win the game 11-4.
Veteran Rockets pitcher Terry Peppler took the loss, with Greg Hill earning the win.
Game two of the modified best-of-three is scheduled for Tuesday, July 25. If Rhein wins the game, the two teams immediately play a set of extra innings for the series win.
The Rockets made it to the series via a one game Survivor Series win 4-13 over the Earl Grey Rockets.
