The Saskatchewan Hockey Association (SHA) Referee clinic will be held on Sept. 12 at the Gallagher Centre from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Everyone coming must have their online modules completed prior to coming to the clinic. The online modules can be found at www.sha.sk.ca by clicking on the Referees tab.

The SHA website also has information concerning the costs for the clinic and registering with the SHA. They will also be hosting an on-ice clinic for the first and second-year officials at the Kinsmen Arena on Sept. 18 from 2-4 p.m.

This will allow some of the first and second year guys to get some help and feedback from some of the older officials prior to going out into a game environment.

Jeff Bahrey, Zone 4 co-ordinator with the SHA, said he hopes to be able to create more interest in the younger kids coming out to ref and that he hopes that most of them will try it and stick with it.

"The biggest issue is that it becomes tougher to keep them in (reffing)."

Added bonus for those interesting in coming is that if they work five games with Yorkton Minor Hockey.

They will be reimbursed the money they pay for the referee clinics over the next two weekends.

Bahrey said the clinics are going to emphasize everything the referees are going to need to know once they get out on the ice.

It's going to show them "what we have to be looking for on the ice. It's going to take "the grey out of the game."
