The Preeceville School football team defeated Hudson Bay in its opening game of the season in Hudson Bay on September 7.
The team traveled to Hudson Bay with big dreams of winning its first game and they would not be denied as they walked away with a win by a score of 42-29.
"We started out the game with a strong presence," said Jeremy Mattison, coach. "The defense held strong, which allowed a great running game. We had a few hiccups with this СÀ¶ÊÓƵ our first game of the season.
"Our younger player stepped up when one of our senior players, Sean Paligan got injured," he said. "A few of our other players also got banged up but everyone knows it is part of the game. The players played as a team and the coaching staff is very proud of the way the players presented themselves and the quality of talent that they showed. There is still lots of work to be done to make the team better and grow as a team," concluded Mattison.
The first Panthers home game is on September 13 against St. Brieux. Game time is 4 p.m. and the team is encouraging the public to come out to show their support and watch some great football.
