Preeceville official recognized for contributions

Sheldon Luciw of Preeceville was recognized by the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association with the Outstanding Official award. The presentation was made during the association’s annual general meeting in Saskatoon on June 24.

Sheldon Luciw of Preeceville was recognized by the Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association with the Outstanding Official award. The presentation was made during the association’s annual general meeting in Saskatoon on June 24.

Luciw was unable to attend the function and was presented the award at the Preeceville School on June 27 by Cary Franklin, East Central District Athletic Association officials commissioner.

The Outstanding Officials award recognizes outstanding contributions of individuals in the officiating field, said information regarding the award. The award honours a female or male official in each Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association District.

Individuals contribute to the district by providing a valuable service to the district. The selected recipients act as proponents of good sportsmanship by officiating with these ideals in mind whenever officiating, the information said. In addition they regularly attend clinics in the activity officiated to show an interest in improving and keeping up to date with the current trends in officiating.
