The Terriers have stayed a top the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Sherwood Conference after a split in two games this week.
The split leaves the Terriers with a record of 27-14-2-4 for 60 points.
Kindersley are four points back, with 56. Weyburn sits third with 52 points, Estevan 47, Melville 41 and Notre Dame with 37.
The Terrier win for the week came Sunday at the Farrell Agencies Arena when they blitzed the visiting Notre Dame Hounds, 9-1.
The Terriers had a hat-trick performance from Justin Buzzeo, and two goals each from Jeremy Boyer and Clarke Breitkreuz on the way to the win. Robbie Ciolfi and Riley Paterson added the single markers.
Devin Peters was in the Terrier net, facing only 22-shots for his first win of 2011. Ajay Moore was the lone Hound shooter to beat the Yorkton netminder.
Peters said it was good to get a win under his belt again.
"The pressure was kind of getting to me," he said, adding have the last week off to refocus in practice was huge.
Peters said 2011 did not have the start he was hoping for, adding, "I was sort of pushing myself too hard. Sometimes I'm my own worst enemy."
Peters even sat out four straight games, adding that was something he voluntarily did in consultation with head coach Trent Cassan.
"I needed time to regroup, to get my game back together," he said.
Going into Sunday's game Peters said his frame of mind was better.
"I came out tonight more focused. I came out excited to play," he said.
Cassan said the whole Terrier team seemed ready for the game.
"They were all pretty sharp right from the start," he said.
"They were pretty focused all week in practice."
The one goal the Hounds did manage Peters noted "they got sort of a lucky bounce." While the goal drew Notre Dame within one at the time in the second period, the Terriers responded by getting two quick goals to quash any Hound momentum.
Asked if the lopsided win was significant coming over the last-place Hounds, Cassan noted "we take a win as a win right now." He added the Hounds have actually been playing better of-late, getting points from their three previous starts before Sunday. " I think every game from now to the end of the season gets more important."
And, the win helps as the Terriers head out on the road.
"It's going to give us some momentum going into our match-up in Kindersley Tuesday," said Cassan.
Last Tuesday, (Jan. 18), the Terriers hosted Melfort, where the visiting team took a 1-0 lead after 20-minutes, made it 3-1 after two periods, and went on to a 5-3 win.Warren Shymko was in the Terrier net for the loss, facing 28-shots.Boyer, Breitkreuz and Nathan Murray had the Terrier goals.
Up nextThe Terriers head into the week with a trio of games scheduled.
Last night, (Tuesday), the Terriers were to play in Kindersley. Results were not available at press time.
Tonight, (Wednesday), the Terriers are in North Battleford.
On Saturday, Yorkton returns to the Farrell Agencies Arena to host Notre Dame.
Then, next Tuesday (Feb. 1), the Battlefords pay a visit to the city.
