The players, coaches and volunteers of the Kamsack Minor Hockey Association鈥檚 2015/16 season were celebrated at the group鈥檚 annual banquet held April 14.

This season the association had 101 players registered in all six divisions: IP, novice, atom, peewee, bantam and midget, said Julie Gareau, a member of the association鈥檚 executive committee. 鈥淚t has been quite a few years since there has been a team in each division representing Kamsack.

Receiving special recognition on the peewee team were: Samantha Krotenko, who was presented with the most improved award; Justin Abrahamson, the dedicated award, and Jordyn Thomas, who received the sportsmanship award.

On the atoms team, Ty Thomas received the dedicated award, Bruklyn Munroe, the most improved award, and Declan Kosokowsky, the sportsmanship award.

Vincent MacGillivray was named the most improved player on the novice team. Melody Lin received the sportsmanship award, and Jace Vogel, the dedicated award.

Seth Symak was presented with the most improved award on the IP (initiation program) team; Isobella Marsh received the sportsmanship award, and Rhys Lawless, the dedication award.

鈥淭he association is very appreciative of all the coaches, managers and volunteers who worked hard to allow our children to play this season,鈥 Gareau said. 鈥淲ithout dedicated volunteers, minor sports would not exist.

鈥淪o on behalf of all of our hockey players, the executive members would like to thank each and every one who coached, managed, worked the gate, sold 50/50 tickets, and ran the clock,鈥 she said. 鈥淵our dedication to our children and sports teams is noticed and appreciated.

Although the hockey season officially wrapped up end at the end of March, the annual general meeting was set for yesterday (April 27), when everyone connected to Kamsack minor hockey was encouraged to attend.
