YORKTON - The Yorkton Terriers, who have missed the mark to be in this year’s SJHL playoffs, played their final regular season game.
The contest was a rare afternoon affair at the Westland Insurance Arena Saturday against rival Millionaires.
The visiting Mills started things with Kole Keen scoring the lone goal of the opening period at 18:44.
The middle frame was one for special teams.
The Terriers pulled ahead with two powerplay goals, Tate Schofer scoring with the man advantage at 9:05, and Tyson Perkins at 14:23.
A short-handed effort by Melville’s Hudson Norris sent the teams to the dressing room tied 2-2 after 40-minutes of play.
In the third Perkins gave the Terriers the lead 1:36, with his second of the contest.
A short-handed effort by Keen, his second of the afternoon, at 5:24 tied the games 3-3.
The tie held through regulation time, sending the game to overtime, where no one scored.
Melville finally secured the win in the shoot-out to record a 4-3 win.
Ethan Rau was in net for the Millionaires facing 29-shots in the win.
Ethan Farrow took the loss in the Terrier net facing 25 shots.
The Terriers finish the season with a record of 21-30-2-3 for 47 points, last in the SJHL Viterra Division, and 10th overall in the 12-team league.
Melville finishes atop the Viterra with 65 points, fifth overall in the SJHL.
