The Yorkton Volleyball Club will be hosting two provincial tournaments this month.
On Jan. 22-23, the Asics Cup I for U18 women will be played at three different locations, including the Gallagher Centre, St. Mike's/MC Knoll, and the Gloria Hayden Centre.
The McSweeney Selects team will once again participate and coach Brent Brown says "the team is basically the same line up as last year with one addition."
He said the team has its sights set very high this year.
"We are hoping to be one of the top teams in the province this year fighting for the title."
All the top teams in the province will be playing as this will be the ranking tournament which all teams will be using going into the season.
Coming up on the weekend of Jan. 29-30 is the Asics Cup 1 for U15 women. Brown doesn't have the total teams competing but expect that it will be at least 20.
The hometown McSweeney's Selects hope to do well at this tournament. They will be hosting more tournaments throughout the season and hopes to have player names and tournament dates available within the next few days/weeks.
The club is looking at a trip to the nationals this year and will be trying to get as much playing time as possible.
The U18 team has some graduating players who will be playing their final season with the club team. Brown said some of them have hopes of playing after finishing school.
