Matechuk, Westwood, cheer squad in town for Riderville fun

Current professional football player Jordan Matechuk will be hosting 'The Maddawg Football Camp' this weekend as it coincides with the Football Week in the Parkland festivities all this week.

Matechuk brings with him a full season of pro experience to the Kinsmen Century Field May 7-9. The camp offers eight hours of detailed game experience from both professional and CIS-level players and coaches. Registration is still available by contacting [email protected], or by phone at (306) 786-5572. Joining the Hamilton Ti-Cats' Matechuk will be Don Oramasionwu of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Extra instruction will also be available for place kickers and long snappers.

Cost for the three-day camp is only $40.

Also announced, former Bomber place kicker Troy Westwood will be returning to Saskatchewan as the 1st Annual Banjo Bowl Jamboree kicks off in Yorkton, scheduled for 12 noon on Friday afternoon (May 7).

Jason Farrell, who has had a huge role in securing the week of festivities taking place at various points throughout the city, contacted the paper regarding the confirmation of the former Bomber."This is going to be fun," proclaims Farrell.

Matechuk's football camp will be held later that afternoon, taking place at the Century Field set to start at 4 p.m.

Also scheduled to make an appearance during Riderville festivities is the Saskatchewan Roughrider mascot, Gainer the Gopher, adds Farrell.

The Jamboree, sponsored by Maple Farm Equipment, will be held at the Army/Navy Veterans Club at 7:00 p.m., on Friday evening.

Brittany Theis will be holding a sold-out cheerleading clinic at MC Knoll on Saturday from 9 a.m., while a group of Saskatchewan Roughrider cheerleaders will be making an appearance Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., in downtown Yorkton. Roughrider mascot Gainer the Gopher is also 小蓝视频 brought in.

The Rider Pa-ride (not a typo) is the long awaited parade that will take over the city east to west and it is hoped that fan support will be enough to put the City's chances of winning the contest up and over the top.

The Pa-ride takes place Saturday at 12 noon going up Broadway St. Residents are encouraged to wear green.
