Local youth archers do well at provincial archery shoot

鈥淚 am very proud of all the shooters for all of their accomplishment in reaching personal best scores,鈥 said Trevor Bartel, coach.

Sturgis shooters who participated were: Nolan Westermann, Wyatt Mastrachuk, Gavin Swiderski, Kale Musey, Payton Sorgen, Carter and Wyatt Scheller, Luke Sandager, Boden Heskin, Maggie Bartel, and Amber Spray.

Shooters participated in two days of shooting in different programs.

On Saturday, archers participated in the Junior Olympic Program championships, shooting 40 metres. Payton Sorgen shot in the female compound expert bowman 180. Carter Scheller shot in the male compound champion bowman 210 category. Wyatt Scheller shot in the male compound expert bowman 180 category. Luke Sandager shot in the recurve junior archer 100 category. Boden Heskin shot in the male compound bowman 160 category. Maggie Bartel and Amber Spray each shot in the female compound master yeoman 160 category. Wyatt Mastrachuk shot in the male compound Olympian 245 category. Nolan Westermann shot in the male compound champion archer 20 category. Kale Musey shot in the male compound Olympian 270 category. Gavin Swiderski shot in the male compound Olympian 260 category.

On Sunday, archers participated in the Saskatchewan Archery Association Provincial Age Class Championships where archers shot in their own age category.

Swiderski shot in the male junior category; Westermann, male cadet; Mastrachuk shot in the male cub; Sorgen, female cub; Carter Scheller, Luke Sandager and Heskin, male pre-cub; Bartel and Spray, female pre-cub and Wyatt Scheller, male peewee.

Luke Sandager placed fourth overall in his age category.
