聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Two members of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute鈥檚 track team distinguished themselves at the Knights of Columbus indoor games held January 30 and 31 in Saskatoon.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Competing were Petrie Whitehawk and Holden Labelle.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 That was the club鈥檚 first meet of the year, said Chantel Kitchen, who coaches the group with her husband Kevin.
Holden placed first in the bantam boys 800m and second in the bantam boys high jump events, Kitchen said. He jumped 125 cm, while the winner jumped 130 cm.
Although disappointed that he did not make the 130 height because he has been jumping 135 cm at practice, he had a very successful meet, she said.
Petrie competed in the bantam girls speed triathlon. This combines the scores from three events: 60m, long jump and shot put. She placed ninth overall out of 16 competitors. Her best finish was in the long jump event where she finished sixth.
That was her first time competing at this meet and she showed resilience in finishing the 60m when it began with technical difficulties of initially not 小蓝视频 permitted to run when the officials could not find her name on the heat sheets, she said. In the end she was able to compete in the event and after the upsetting news she was able to pull off a respectable 60m race, improving her rank in the triathlon to ninth from 11th where she was sitting after the shot put event.
The team鈥檚 next competition is to be this weekend in Regina.
