聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Seventy-five junior curlers representing 10 schools within the Good Spirit School Division will be in Kamsack next weekend participating in the district competition.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The districts, 小蓝视频 played January 29 and 30, concludes the junior curlers鈥� competitive season, said Barb Tetoff, the manager of the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute鈥檚 boys and girls junior and senior teams. The teams鈥� coach is Scott Tulloch.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 KCI placed a bid with the Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association (SHSAA) the for privilege of hosting the competition, which is 小蓝视频 held at the Broda Sportsplex, Tetoff said. Each school is permitted to enter one team in each of the boys and girls sides of the competition.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A total of seven boys teams and eight girls teams have entered the bonspiel. The boys teams are from the Yorkton Regional High School, Stockholm, Saltcoats, Sturgis, Preeceville and Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton in addition to KCI, while the girls teams will be from Yorkton Regional, Saltcoats, Sturgis, Churchbridge, Melville, Esterhazy, Sacred Heart and KCI.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The games will begin at 10 a.m. on both days and the admission fee has been set at $5 for both days, she said. It will be a double-knockout competition with Andy Kazakoff of Kamsack as the referee. The last game on Friday is to begin at about 5 p.m., while the final championship game will begin either at 1:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m., depending on how the teams did.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Members of the top three teams will be presented with gold, silver and bronze medals.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This is the first time that KCI has hosted this competition, Tetoff said, adding that the KCI teams have been practicing with Tulloch once a week since November.
鈥淲e鈥檙e encouraging everyone to come out to see our future curling stars,鈥� she said.
On the KCI junior girls team are Koryssa Woloshyn, Kiera Kitsch, Keanna Romaniuk, Sadie McGriskin, Savannah Lozinsky, Anna Schwartz and Chloe Koroluk, while on the boys team are Zach Chernoff (skip), Conner Bodnaryk (third), Curtis McGriskin (second) and Zach Zbeetnoff (lead).
While the junior teams will be competing in Kamsack, mixed teams will be competing at districts in Sturgis at the same time.
The senior curling teams will be competing at districts to be hosted by Yorkton Regional High School at the Yorkton Curling Club on February 5 and 6. Winners of that competition will qualify to advance to regionals in Fort Qu鈥橝ppelle on February 26 and 27, and then the winners from the regionals will qualify to advance to the provincials at Meadow Lake March 4 and 5.
Tetoff says that KCI will have strong senior mixed and girls teams entered at districts and explained how, but for one rock, a KCI team would have advanced to the provincials last year.
On the KCI senior mixed team are: Jayden Chutskoff, Kyle Morgan, Kaylie Bowes, Cassidy Aker and Henry Thomas, while on the girls team are Mikayla Woloshyn, Laurissa Fedorchuk, Lexie Koroluk and Shanie Bear.
