KCI archers compete in NASP СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Provincials in Weyburn

Nine Kamsack Comprehensive Institute archers qualified to compete in the NASP СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Provincials held in Weyburn on April 30.

            Nine Kamsack Comprehensive Institute archers qualified to compete in the  NASP СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Provincials held in Weyburn on April 30.

            About 600 student archers were at the National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) competition including the nine from KCI who were in grades 6 to 12.

            The KCI students took some archery in their physical education classes last year, and then started after Christmas practicing in physical education and after school.

            Working with the students are teachers Darren Kitsch, Shannon Bielecki and Amanda Carpenter. Javin Davis is a coach from the community.

            In the competition, each archer shot 30 counting arrows, 15 at 10 metres from the target and 15 from 15 metres.

            Kyler Kitsch, in the Grade 6 boys category, obtained a score of 230 and ranked 13th out of 47 competitors.

            Ilya Carpenter-Bloudoff, in Grade 6 girls, had a score of 226, placing her eighth out of 35.

            Kira Kitsch, Grade 8 girls, had a score of 224 which ranked her 16th out of 25.

            Maison Davis, Grade 8 girls, scored 220, which ranked her 18th out of 25.

            Nicholas Bielecki, Grade 7 boys, scored 215, which ranked him 31st out of 36.

            Shaelyn Matwijeczko, Grade 10 girls, scored 210, giving her a rank of 15th out of 22.

            LeMay Keshane, Grade 10 girls, scored 2016, ranking her 16th out of 22.

            Tyalen Keshane, Grade 8 boys, scored 201, giving him a rank of 23 out of 31.

            Cadence Severight, Grade 6 girls, scored 184, which ranked her 21st out of 35.
