Hockey players acknowledged for dedication to the sport

Hockey players and coaches were acknowledged for their dedication and hard work over the course of the hockey season during the Preeceville Pats hockey windup held at the Sturgis Community Hall on March 31.

Hockey players and coaches were acknowledged for their dedication and hard work over the course of the hockey season during the Preeceville Pats hockey windup held at the Sturgis Community Hall on March 31.

The evening featured a steak supper and awards segment.

Jesse Nelson, president of Preeceville Minor Hockey gave opening and closing remarks. "It was a great season with the all players showcasing their hard work," said Nelson. "The dedication of players, coaches, parents and fans was huge," he said.

Nelson acknowledged all the volunteers, coaches, and all the individuals who helped make the season a success.

Andrea Tonn, volunteer of the Preeceville Minor Hockey and Preeceville Arena Board brought greetings. Tonn covered a variety of topics surrounding the hockey season. Some of the topics featured included kitchen shifts that help keep ice fees low for teams, the issue at the arena concerning the heater, sound and lighting in the arena. "We are working on making positive changes for the next season and are hopeful that we can improve on trouble areas," she said.

The coaches from each team presented awards for their own team. Each team member was acknowledged on the stage.

Dean Serdachny, coach for IP presented Dillon Serdachny with most dedicated, Tanner Townsend with the most improved and Landon Erickson with most sportsmanship.

Maggie Lukey and Jody Bashforth, coaches for the Norquay IP team presented the Norquay IP awards. The Norquay team practiced with the Preeceville IP during the season. William Salisbury received most sportsman; Nixon Lukey received most dedicated and Ryan Radchuk received the most improved.

Jason Anaka, coach presented the novice awards. Matthew Radchuk received the most improved, Gavin Erickson received the most dedicated and Braxton Graves most sportsmanship.

Dean Serdachny, coach presented the atom awards. Avyn Seerey received the most improved, Bracyn Konkel received the most dedicated and Presley Vogel received the most sportsmanship.

Jesse Nelson, coach presented the peewee awards. Xage Miraflor received the most improved, Nathan Anaka received the most dedicated and Avery Franklin received the most sportsmanship.

Wes Jaeb, coach presented the bantam awards. Austin Krawetz received most improved, Zach Sorgen received the most dedicated and Camron Secundiak received the most sportsmanship.

Kirby Pankratz, coach presented the midget awards. Derek Barteski received the most improved, Todd Pankratz received the most dedicated and Jessie Biletski received the most sportsmanship.

Other midget awards were presented for top forward, top defenceman, top rookie, top scorer and most valuable player.

Dawson Paul received the top forward award sponsored by Jack Prien.

Noah Watson received the top defenceman award in memory of Karen Thiel. Paula Flottemosch presented the award.

Shae Peterson was presented the top rookie award in memory of Trent Paul. Shannon Nelson made the presentation.

Todd Pankratz received the top scorer award in memory of Marlin Romaniuk. Rudy Romaniuk made the presentation.

Tyler Kopek received the most valuable player sponsored by Lorne and Colleen Zubko. Jocelyn Schultz made the presentation on their behalf.
