In the battle of two teams who were winless going into Saturday's football game, something had to give.
With a 32-26 win on home field, the Yorkton Pee Wee Gridders snapped a three-game losing skid.
They now jump in the standings and have two home games left in the regular season and go into them at 1-3.
Jason Farrell, head coach of the Gridders, boldly stated that the win would be "the first of many" after watching his offence putting up 32 points for the first time this season.
The win was pretty but it did not come easy.
And it came down to one play with time ticking down in the fourth quarter.
Defensive end Evan Gleason made a tackle on the final series of the game for Regina in which they moved the ball into the red zone.
Gleason moved into position and brought down a Regina QB is was much bigger than he is.
"I just got past the guy," he said when asked to describe the play. "It was really awesome."
The win gives the Gridders their first two points of the season.
Going into Saturday's RMFL schedule, the PW Griffins and Grenfell Argos were both winless, along with both the Gridders and Razorbacks.
Farrell went on to explain what Gleason's role was in the waning moments of the fourth quarter and how it transpired.
"What he needed to do was penetrate the linebeat his guy," Farrell suggested.
He added that Regina's QB was a monster to bring down and was having his way with the Gridder secondary all day long.
"Their QB had been beating us all game.
Evan's probably been our most consistent players. He's quick and strong."
Early on, Hunter Arnold got momentum back in Yorkton's favour with the recovery of an onside kick by Jake Kustra, and ran the ball into the end zone.
That put Yorkton up by 18-6 in the first half.
"Our entire team was into every play," said Farrell.
Arnold, who had several touchdowns, credited teammate Brody Kormos for helping find openings for him to run through.
"Brody Kormos blocked for me every play," insisted Arnold.

Yorkton has already played half of its home schedule for the 2011 regular season. Next up is the fifth-ranked Lumsden PW. Lumsden sat in fifth spot going into this past weekend with a record of 2-1.
