First Spartan football game of the season said an exciting start

The senior football game between the Kamsack Spartans and the Preeceville Panthers on September 16, which was the Spartans’ first game of the season, was an exciting start to the season.

The senior football game between the Kamsack Spartans and the Preeceville Panthers on September 16, which was the Spartans’ first game of the season, was an exciting start to the season.

Kamsack got off to a slow first half, falling behind 20-6 after two quarters, said Ryan Stanko, the coach. The defence played well overall but fell victim to a few big gains by the opposition.

The defensive unit pulled it together for a dominant second half when Preeceville was held off the scoreboard.

The KCI offence made some huge plays, initiated by a strong offensive line, a mobile quarterback and quick receivers, Stanko said.

Kamsack scored two more touchdowns in the second half to bring the score to 20-18 for Preeceville.

With under a minute left, KCI moved the ball down to the Preeceville five yard line, but the play was called back, he said. Despite the loss, the boys knew they left it all on the field and are looking forward to hosting the Panthers on October 16.

The last of the team’s six-game schedule will be played at home on October 23 against Wynyard.

After the Spartans’ first game in Preeceville, the team’s “away” games will be played in Wynyard October 2 and in Watson on October 8.
