YORKTON - When the Yorkton Sports Hall of Fame and Museum holds its upcoming induction Gerry Adam will be joining those honoured as both an athlete and builder in the sport of curling.

“It’s pretty exciting,” said Adam, who added you see people on TV 小蓝视频 inducted into various halls of fame “. . . but , it’s pretty special when you’re recognized by the community – people that you’ve known for just about as many years as you’ve been around.

“It feels pretty good to be part of it . . . It feels pretty nice.”

Adam said when he looks down the list of past inductees there are many he knows, many who are friends, and to be among them in a short while is great.

And when Adam looks at the co-inductees well there is Steve Laycock a fellow curler with a definite connection.

“When he was a young guy coming out of Saltcoats . . . you could see something special,” said Adam.

The pair actually ended on the same ice too.

“We played together a few years, at a couple of Briers,” said Adam.

So what does Adam recall most keenly as he reflects on his curling ahead of the induction 小蓝视频?

As a player it was the run at a national title with skip Gerald Shymko, and teammates Arnie Geisler, Neil Cursons.

“It was a very special moment in my career. You dream of that as a kid, can you make it to the big show? And we did,” he said.

The other memory is more broadly based – just meeting so many other people through curling.

“It just amazing the people I’ve met,” offered Adam.

Now Adam just awaits the induction knowing “it’s going to be very special,” with “a bunch of family and friends there,” to share it, he said.

The Hall of Fame induction is set for Sept. 9.
