The crowds came out in masses once again and Tucker Chornomud and pals from B3Xtreme Skateboard Shop in Yorkton were thrilled once again.
"Skateboarding is hot right now, " he said during a brief time out to speak with the media.
He said that 150 people came out, some of whom made the trip from Regina, Kelvington among others, and of course a handful of locals.
"It was a great turnout. It's crazy to see how many skateboarders there are in Yorkton."
The show was the 3rd Annual B3Xtreme-sponsored Freedom Tour Skate Jam 2011, featuring professional skater Dan Pageau from Monke skateboards and the 306 team.
Included in the day was a skate clinic, demo and the jam topped it all off later in the evening.
Chornomud said it's lots of work to get everything lined up for the day, not the least of which involves getting the sponsors set up and the location.
He and several friends were up before everyone else setting up the location more used to seeing men and women curling then it is skaters.
"We started moving everything (last) Thursday," Chornomud explained, looking like every last bit of it was worth it.
"We built the stuff then did some touchups."
He was pretty happy with everything come show time. "Yeah, sure," he said smiling, adding that there's "new skaters" coming here that he's never seen before.
He told YTW by Facebook message later that weekend that the Tour was even on the things-to-do-list that day for a family. "There was actually a family that came down from Hudson Bay and Calvington," added Chornomud, sounding excited.
He said he's really looking forward to taking the Tour on the road for what should be the first time ever, hoping to promote the sport wherever he can and hoping to add to the numbers.
"It would be nicer if more families came out (to this)," he said.
'HAZY DAYZ
Chornomud said he's looking forward to taking the Freedom Tour on the road for the first time when the group heads south to the skate park in Esterhazy on June 25.
The Esterhazy skate park is located one block east of Main St., behind the Potash Pete statue.
