Canora rink tops Norquay Seniors Bonspiel

The Norquay Seniors Bonspiel, which was held February 22 to 26, had a total of 29 rinks entered, which was said to have been the most the event has ever attracted. The games were each six ends, with points given for each win, tie or loss.

There were 12 rinks entered from Norquay, and 17 out-of-town rinks from Canora, Swan River and Bowsman, Man., Kamsack, Pelly and Sturgis.

             Taking first place was the Peter Wiwchar rink of Canora, with Bill Foreman, Dwight MacDonald and Natalie Trebick.

Second place was a tie between the Ernie Ginetz rink of Norquay with Lenny Abbott, Ron Perepeluk and George Grant, and the Barb Coleridge rink of Canora with Vern Schick, Kevin Coloridge and Judy Schick.

            Lunches were served all day with a different menu each day. The first games started each day at 9 a.m.

            A banquet was held on the last day, catered by the Whistle Stop Restaurant where more than 140 persons were served. Many door prizes were won.
