The Bantam AA Terriers played a pair of home games over the weekend, beating the Regina Canucks 3-2 then falling to Swift Current Raiders, 5-1.
They also played the Regina Oilers and lost 4-1, said Damon Kustra, coach of the Bantam Terriers."We came out a little bit flat."
He said they have been playing all season with a short roster, then on Saturday, they got to play with a full line up but according to Kustra it did not last long.
"I'm happy with our passion and excitement with our team.
We had a full roster Saturday for the first time all season. It lasted a period then someone got hurt."
Against the Canucks, Yorkton won 3-2 on goals by Kholton Shewchuk, Levi Morin and Steven St. Marie.
The Terriers were charged with only three minor penalties all game long while Regina was assessed five. Goaltender Brandon Holtby got the win in net. Against the Raiders, St. Marie scored one of his two goals over the course of the weekend and Korwin Shewchuk and Evan Werle drew the assists on the only goal.
Swift Current got goals from Jordan Wittman, Austin LaRochelle, Carter Forsyth and Tim Vanstone had a pair.
Logan Wiley led in the penalty department with 12 minutes and Matt Kustra had the loss in goal.The Bantam AAs now join the Junior As and the Midget Harvest on Christmas break.
Kustra told the paper he hasn't been happy with the way the season has been going. He said the team is currently in last place in the league, but advised that it's reassuring to think that they haven't all been bad losses.
"I'm not happy. When you're in 12th place in a 12-team league...(but) people believe that your team is improving..."
Kustra said his team is young and quite inexperience but said that the enthusiasm seems to be there.
"We've been in every game except two," he said, noting that they've already got a win against the league's top team, the Regina Senators.
The Bantams will be the second of the three teams to pick things up in the new year when they face Weyburn on Jan. 4 at Farrell Agencies Arena.
