YORKTON - The first Yorkton Farmers' Market of 2024 was held Thursday.
The market will now be a regular feature at the Parkland Mall in the city Thursday through into December, said Brendon Purton a spokesperson for the market.
“It’s a pretty good turn out for the first week,” said Purton.
Purton said they have around 30 members “eight, or 10 who are here almost weekly.”
Other members come when they have produce to sell (garden), or closer to holidays such as Christmas if they have crafts for sale.
The good news for the market is that interest is growing.
“Over the winter we’ve had a decent amount of new applications,” said Purton, adding they have been actively messaging through social media “we are looking for new vendors and we seem to be getting a response from that.”
And when it comes to what the market typically offers, it is a wide range of goods.
Purton said it comes down to vendors offering anything that falls under the umbrella ‘make it, bake it, grow it’.
So, the market provides residents and visitors with the best in local agricultural products, baking, prepared foods and crafts.
If someone is interested in having a table they can find an application form online at
The weekly sales are held from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
