YORKTON - Travel and training expenses allowances are going up slightly for Yorkton Council.

Following the SUMA conference, the City Manager was asked to review the “Travel and Training Expenses – Members of Council” policy to ensure the City is reimbursing elected officials who travel on city business appropriately, explained Gord Kennedy – Director of Human Resources with the City at the regular meeting of Yorkton Council Monday.

Kennedy said given the increasing costs associated with travel, the “Travel and Training Expenses – Members of Council” policy the Meals and Miscellaneous Expense section would be updated.

The increases proposed, and voted on unanimously by Council to accept included breakfast rising from $10 to $15, lunch from $15 to $20, and supper from $25 to $30.

The private vehicle usage rate was also updated to 51 cents / km ($0.51) (up from 20 cents/km ($0.20), to be consistent with the Government of Saskatchewan Allowance provided to employees.
