Work of Kamsack district fibre artist included in travelling exhibit

The piece of fibre art created by Brenda Andrews of Cote Siding, which is included in an exhibition at the Godfrey Dean Art Gallery in Yorkton April 4 to May 12 is a three-dimensional piece that hangs on the wall giving the effect of a kite catching the wind.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Brenda Andrews of Cote Siding was instrumental in getting the 鈥淥n the Wind Travelling Exhibition鈥 into the Godfrey Dean, said Jaynie Himsl of Weyburn, a co-ordinator of the exhibit.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t is a higher level gallery than what most of Fibre Art Network (FAN) shows travel to,鈥 Himsl said, explaining that members of the FAN group are from Manitoba to British Columbia.

鈥淔AN membership includes emerging fibre artists, teachers, authors, judges and award-winning textile artists,鈥 she said. Many have shown their work nationally and internationally and some have won both national and international recognition for their work. The co-operative engenders fellowship of like-minded friends and celebrates differences as well as common interests.

A total of 33 members submitted pieces in response to the theme, she said. Techniques used to make the pieces vary from felting, quilting, hand stitching, hand-dyed fabrics, applique, printing and others.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The exhibit is travelling across Canada for two years, Andrews said. The show will be in Yorkton April 4 to May 12.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The opening reception for the show, as well as for another exhibition that鈥檚 at the gallery will be held April 23.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚'm hoping for lots of visitors to the exhibition to encourage future shows 小蓝视频 booked at the beautiful facility,鈥 Himsl said, adding that she will be attending the opening reception.
