The Preeceville Recreation Board wheat fundraiser finished its harvest on September 27. The field was located approximately one mile west of Preeceville and was a volunteer effort.
The Preeceville Recreation Board arranged for the 70 acres of land west of Preeceville to be seeded into wheat as a fundraiser for the bike and skate park. Last year the land was seeded into canola as a fundraiser crop for the Arena.
The wheat seeded was a surplus that the Arena had left over from a previous year. This fundraiser would not have been completed without the help of many.听
Hoterra Farms supplied the land which made the project possible. Pattison Ag supplied the equipment for seeding and harvesting. Tim Olson was the operator of a combine again this harvest. Rocky Mountain Equipment with Jeff Berlinic combining on September 26 and 27 provided equipment and manpower to help harvest the wheat crop. Desiccation of was done by Colin Mastrachuk.
The harvested wheat was trucked to Richardson Pioneer by Highway 16 Transport.
"We were extremely happy with this year鈥檚 crop yield which was 52 bushels per acre,鈥 said Andrea Tonn, Town of Preeceville Recreation Director. 鈥淭here are many aspects of this fundraiser which have not been forgotten and without all of the help over the years this project would not have been a success. There were many private and corporate donations from the beginning.
鈥淲e are extremely grateful and lucky for what we have in this community. People and organizations pull together to help each other out. There are so many people to thank over the years and I hope everyone knows how much it is all appreciated,鈥 concluded Tonn.
