Victoria School in Kamsack was 鈥渆xcited to celebrate Education Week.鈥�
Each day from October 21 to October 25 the school held special events: October 21, Bus Driver Appreciation Day, 鈥渞ecognizing our drivers for their dedication and service to our students;鈥�
October 22, Secret Staff Reader day, 鈥淗mmm鈥ho鈥檚 coming to read in your classroom?鈥澛� October 23, Mugs and Muffins, 鈥渇amilies were invited to join us for coffee and muffins in the gym, and students had the opportunity to pick a free book to take home courtesy of First Book
Canada Free Book Drive. Special thanks to the Victoria School Community Council for supplying the muffins and coffee;鈥� October 24, Feast with a Friend, 鈥渟tudents gathered in the gym to eat lunch together as a school community. It was a great time to chat with friends and/or meet someone new!鈥� and October 25, Spirit Day-Beach Day, 鈥渟tudents were able to wear their shorts, t-shirts and hats this day
Education Week was an opportunity to 鈥渉onour our hardworking teachers, administrators and education support staff throughout the province and celebrate the success of students,鈥� said a release.
鈥淚 have seen first-hand the extraordinary work of Saskatchewan teachers and staff in our schools,鈥� said Gordon Wyant, deputy premier and education minister, in the release.聽 鈥淭heir contributions each and every day to serve our more than 190,000 students are immeasurable and I am truly grateful for the passion and commitment put forth to help shape our next generation.鈥�
This year, Education Week was celebrated with various events and activities taking place throughout the more than 770 schools in the province鈥檚 27 school divisions. The theme Working and Learning Together was chosen to acknowledge the important collaborative relationships that strengthen our education system.
The meaningful connections that form between education professionals and students, between schools and community members and Elders, and the collaboration that takes place between education partner organizations all serve to create an enriched learning environment for children, promoting student engagement and providing students with the foundations for success.
鈥淔rom students and parents to teachers, principals, support staff and trustees, we appreciate the collaborative work that shapes our shared vision for public education in Saskatchewan,鈥� Wyant said.聽 鈥淭o all those who support our students in their educational journey, thank you for everything you do!鈥�
