聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Fall season is the time for many gardeners to be harvesting produce off their garden and a veggie exchange is a perfect outlet for gardeners to share any extra vegetables.
The exchange was held September 19 to September 21, when gardeners were encouraged to drop off vegetables at the St. John Lutheran Church in Preeceville, the Grace United Church in Sturgis or at the St. James Anglican Church in Endeavour.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The popularity of the program鈥檚 success is due to the generosity of gardeners in the local communities," said Rev. Miles Russell, a church spokesperson. "We had community members asking when the program was taking place and checking the sites daily for produce.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This year there was plenty beets, squash, corn, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes and apples.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The leftover produce was donated to private care homes and the Mackenzie Society in Sturgis and Preeceville.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The annual veggie exchange was sponsored by the Preeceville and District Ministerial Association.聽
