SASKATOON – Three people accused of killing 30-year-old Tyler Owen Morin in 2017 had appearances in Saskatoon Provincial Court.

Levi Dana George McAdam, 22, appeared June 30 on a charge of first-degree murder and the matter was adjourned to July 14 to be spoken to. He will appear by CCTV from Saskatchewan Penitentiary where he is serving time on an unrelated matter.

In May, police also charged Ashley Smoke and Richard Cross with first-degree murder in Morin’s death. Smoke appears again on July 18 and Cross appears July 5.

Morin was found inside a Saskatoon home with a gunshot wound to the abdomen on Nov. 10, 2017. He died in hospital the next day.

Saskatoon Police say that they responded to the home in the 200 block of Ave. V 小蓝视频 at approximately 6:15 a.m. and Morin was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police say that Morin knew the shooter but they weren’t able to identify him at the time.

Morin remembered as talented and kind

Stan Tu’Inukuafe, co-founder of STR8 UP, a non-profit Saskatoon-based group that helps gang members leave the lifestyle, told SASKTODAY.ca Monday that he knew Morin for almost a decade through STR8 UP.

Tu’Inukuafe remembers Morin as person who was loyal to his friends and family, and had a talent for poetry, writing and art. He said in 2012 Morin even participated in Con-Art, which featured inmates’ artwork at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.

“Tyler was really, really good with words,” said Tu’Inukuafe.

He said Morin was also very generous.

“Whatever he had left, he’d give it to you. He’d go out of his way to help people.”
