Melissa Johnstone, a member of Mistawasis First Nation, was hired to teach Grade 1 students.
Johnstone had attended the ITEP (Indian Teacher Education Program) offered at the University of Saskatchewan and graduated with distinction with a bachelor of education degree in 2015.
听听听听听听听听听听听 Last year Johnstone worked at the Chief Mistawasis School as an academic coach and substitute teacher.
听听听听听听听听听听听 A single mother with one son, Kash, who is a Grade 2 student at Cote, Johnstone is living in Roblin. She said she enjoys playing slo-pitch and is a 鈥渉ockey mom.鈥
听听听听听听听听听听听 Patricia Collins, who was hired to teach senior English, said she has a bachelor of education degree from the University of Regina.
