聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 A total of 25 trophies belonging to hunters with the Kamsack branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation were measured during the branch鈥檚 annual measuring event on December 7.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Measuring the wildlife trophies at the Broda Sportsplex were Lorne Leis of Kamsack, who is the measurer for the Kamsack branch and Heath Dreger of Yorkton, the district鈥檚 official measurer for Boone and Crocket and Henry Kelsey records.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The pair measured 14 typical white-tailed deer antlers, and four non-typical antlers; five moose and two bears, said Allan Wonitowy, branch treasurer. But none of the trophies measured are for the record books.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e measured more deer than we did last year,鈥 Wonitowy said. 鈥淎nd the deer antlers were larger than they were last year.鈥
This suggests that the deer population鈥檚 survival was good, he said.
The moose were about average, he said, adding that no elk or mule deer were measured.
鈥淲e had no elk possibly because the names of very few district hunters were drawn,鈥 he said.聽
