Town of Preeceville approves new budget

The Town of Preeceville council discussed many topics of concern at its regular meeting held on May 20. The operating budget for 2021 was approved and the mill rate was set at six mills.

The operating budget for 2021 was approved and the mill rate was set at six mills.

Tax exemptions were given to the Preeceville Senior Club 60 and the Preeceville Ukrainian Catholic hall.

The Waste Water Treatment Facility project status reports were filed and acknowledged with a $10,290 fee added to the total contract.

The reports that were acknowledged and filed featured reports from the bylaw officer, the mayor, administrative, community development officer and recreation.

Mayor Ralph Ager and Administrator Officer Lorelei Karcha, were appointed to the steering committee for the proposed Saskatchewan Highway No. 9 Regional Potable Water Project.

Reports from Ager and councillors Welma Bartel and Stacey Strykowski on the Municipality of Saskatchewan Virtual Town Sector meeting were acknowledged and filed.

Council changed its regular meeting to the second Wednesday of each month.

Scott Parkin was hired as Shop seasonal labourer. Ashley Ward completed his Level 2 Waste Water Treatment and Collection course. Jason Durand passed his six-month probation as shop labourer.

Justen Strand was hired as public works summer intern student and Makenna Petryshyn was hired as the recreation summer intern student.

Council approved three building permits, two for constructing a deck and one for demolishing a house.

The Canora/Sturgis RCMP detachment annual finance plan was acknowledged.

Council made a $2,000 donation to the Family Resource Centre and $200 to the Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers program.

Committee reports that were filed and acknowledged were the Parkland Regional Waste Management Authority, Preeceville Lions Family Trail and the Preeceville Economic Development and Tourism report.
