Town Council provides financial assistance for Canora Golf and Country Club

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, council agreed to provide Canora Golf and Country Club with financial assistance to cover only necessary payroll and maintenance expenses required to preserve the greens and course infrastructure until such time as the Club is able to resume operations of the course.

Council accepted Sleeva Electric’s bid of $3,793.67, including taxes, for the installation of permanent electrical services to the LED winter lights at King George Park.

Council adopted a remote working policy.

Council awarded the fuel and oil tender to Canora Farm Service Ltd. for the period of May 1, 2020 to April 30, 2022 at the following rates:

  • Diesel $0.772/litre
  • Gasoline $0.566/litre

Council approved the March 20 Phase III Environmental Site Assessment as prepared by Tetra Tech Canada Inc.

Council acknowledged the provincial school division mill rates for 2020 as follows:

  • Agricultural property 1.43 mills
  • Residential property 4.12 mills
  • Commercial/industrial property 6.27 mills
  • Resource property 9.68 mills

Council tabled the request of Trudy Tuttle for compensation related to her car tires after her vehicle struck a pothole on Norway Road on March 30.

Council amended Part IV Section 8(g) of the Zoning Bylaw to read: “In a residential district, an accessory building consisting of a tarp or fabric-covered structure shall have a maximum area of 27.87 square metres (300 sq. ft.)” and authorized the chief administrative officer to give the required public notice and prepare drafts to amend the bylaw.
