聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The second meeting of the town council after the recent elections included the implementation a code of ethics for the council when making further decisions as well as plans for the upcoming Canora Winter Lights Festival.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The meeting was held on November 15 at the town council chambers with the first order of business 小蓝视频 in regards to the Canora Winter Lights Festival, which is 小蓝视频 organized by the Town of Canora鈥檚 community development officer, Jo-Anne Sigurdson. The council approved the festival鈥檚 parade route which entails entrants gathering at Centre Avenue East. The parade will travel west to Main Street, north on Main Street to Railway Avenue, east on Railway Avenue to Norway Road, north on Norway Road to Roslyn Avenue and finally west on Roslyn Avenue to Nelson Street. The Canora Agricultural Grounds were also approved as the spot for the fireworks display and bonfire that is to be held after the parade.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Mayor Gina Rakochy and the rest of town council will be attending a convention in Saskatoon for the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) on February 5 to 8 after council finalized the decision during the meeting. The council also tabled a request from Mary Huebert in regards to reimbursing plumbing costs for a blockage in the sewer line at 115 Main Street.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association Inc. (SSA) and its members, which are supervised by Trakkers Snow Club, were given permission by council to use segments of the RM of Keys and the RM of Good Lake for snowmobiling purposes beginning November 1 and continuing until October 31 of next year.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Two bylaws were read and passed during the meeting. Bylaw No. 16-14, or the Code of Ethics Bylaw, was implemented to recognize the impact of council decisions. Standards and values discussed in the bylaw included honesty, objectivity, respect, transparency and accountability, confidentiality, leadership and responsibility. The procedures for handling complaints and any contraventions during a council meeting were also detailed.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Bylaw No. 16-15 is a bylaw to provide for the closing and selling of a municipal back lane. Lanes in Block 3, Plan AG1454 are to be purchased by Jason Fullawka and Brandi Shea.
