August 29, 1979- Tim Chicilo of Canora set a provincial record in nine and 10-year-old backstroke in the provincial swim meet at Melfort to help the 鈥渘orth鈥� beat the 鈥渟outh鈥� for the first time.

September 12, 1979- Approximately 320 acres on the northwest side of Good Spirit Lake were added to the Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park, because of its wildlife capacity and potential for interpretive use, according to Tourism and Renewable Resources Minister Reg Gross.

September 19, 1979- With plans for a new curling rink at Canora running behind schedule and the existing rink 小蓝视频 closed down by the fire commissioner鈥檚 office at Regina, it seemed highly unlikely that any curling could take place in Canora during the coming winter, said Don Bahrey, president of the Canora Community Curling Project Committee.
