April 25, 1979- Eugene Stratechuk of Canora won the grand challenge event at a snooker tournament at Royal Billiards in Yorkton. Glenn Haskewich, also of Canora, took top spot in the A event.

May 2, 1979- Havakeen Lunch, produced by Elise Swerhone, a former Canora resident and aspiring Winnipeg filmmaker, was one of three prairie films presented in the Planetarium Theatre in Winnipeg. The film was to be shown on television in the CBC Made in Manitoba film series later in the spring.

May 23, 1979- With reports of cool, wet weather preventing drying, there was little to no seeding progress in many areas of the province as of the middle of May. On May 17, only 8.8 per cent of the total crop and 10.6 per cent of the spring wheat crop had been seeded.

June 6, 1979- Four students from the Canora Special Class participated in events at the Zone 4 Special Olympics in Yorkton and qualified for the provincial Special Olympics in Moose Jaw. Those four were: Leo Kentz, Valerie Keyowski, Mary Ann Yachyshyn and Phillip Yachyshyn.听

June 13, 1979- Ron and Heidi Sklaruk planned to open R & H Upholstery at Canora in the former Hrywkiw Construction building on the south service road on Norway Road.

June 20, 1979- Danny (Flash) Petryshen of Canora won first prize and $175 that goes with it in the Canora Lions Club canoe poker derby. The 12-mile course was set up on the Whitesand River between 鈥淓rlich鈥檚 bridge鈥� and the dam east of Canora.
