June 19, 1974 – Farmers in the Canora district reported having to cut their wheat acreage by about 25 to 30 per cent compared with that sown the previous year, according to agricultural representative Orest Mysak, because seeding operations were delayed and wheat is a longer season crop. Wheat acres, for the most part, were replaced by barley and rapeseed.

June 26, 1974 – Roger Hamel was appointed as the new grocery and produce manager at the Gateway Co-op’s shopping centre in Canora, succeeding Stan Sawatzky, who had earlier been transferred to a co-operative store in Neepawa, Man.

July 10, 1974 – Glen and George Leson of Canora bought the Canora Funeral Home from John D. Zielinski. Glen had been working as an apprentice for Zielinski since June, 1972 and was scheduled to qualify as a licensed embalmer in September.

August 14, 1974 – Allan Krukoff, 18, the first Canora Cougars senior high football player to break the 1,000-yard rushing mark in a nine-man football season in recent memory, was selected to play as a cornerback with the Saskatoon Hilltops junior football team.

August 28, 1974- Jessie Kuziak of Canora won the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce silver tray as the grand aggregate winner for the most points in the Canora Horticultural Society flower, vegetable and fruit show.
