Hard work and great help from volunteers paid off on October 21 for the Eaglestone Lodge seniors’ care facility in Kamsack.

Colleen Hunter, administrator of the lodge, welcomed everyone to the sold-out Girls Night Out fundraiser event, and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed in any way to the success of the evening, including family, friends, volunteers and residents.

Evelyn Banks said grace before the meal was served by a group of well-dressed waiters recruited from the community for the occasion.

Girls Night Out is the main fundraiser held in support of Eaglestone Lodge. This year’s event once again incorporated a trade show, raffles, silent auction, a supper, fashion show, entertainment by Shelley Filipchuk, and her alter ego Professor Holly, door prizes and drinks.

“Everything was organized and prepared by volunteer labour,” said Debbie Cuervo, a Lodge board member. “It’s an lot of work, but that way we are able to keep our expenses down so most of the funds raised goes directly to the Eaglestone Lodge.

“Cindy Hudye and Rick Nahnybida head up the kitchen crew and the board is very grateful for their dedication.”

The trade show aspect of the evening had a variety of vendors that had “something for everyone.” As well, there was an array of door prizes.
