聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 After a successful swimming season, the curling and skating rinks are preparing to open for October.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 According to Aaron Herriges, the director of leisure services, said that the Canora Swimming Pool had an average of 20 people every day it was open from June 6 to August 28.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The largest amount of people admitted to the pool on a single day was 87, recorded on July 18.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 This was likely due to the events held for Canora in Bloom, Herriges said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e had up to 52 people in the pool at once during Canora in Bloom. It was really good for the pool.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The swimming pool offered free swimming as well as a hot dog sale during the Canora in Bloom festivities, and introduced some new ideas, such as the slip 鈥榥 slide, which were received 鈥渧ery well.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Different classes were offered at the pool, including speed swimming, which had a regular attendance of about five children, and aquafit classes, which ran four times a week and had up to 21 people participating.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e usually had an average of 12 people for every class,鈥� Herriges said.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Passes that were sold for the season included 31 family passes, 17 preschool passes, 42 children passes, one student pass, two adult passes, and one senior pass.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 With the swimming pool now closed for the winter, Herriges is focusing attention on the Canora Skating Rink.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Graham Lamb has been contracted to maintain the ice once again this year. Also returning is Candace Doogan, who will run the canteen.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Herriges said there is no confirmed opening date for the rink, but the projected date is October 17.
