SASKATOON — Three separate fires that were deemed suspicious by the Saskatoon Fire Department’s investigators kept the fire crews busy early Friday morning, Sept. 2.
SFD fire investigators were on the scene of two small fires, in the 500 block of Delayen Crescent at 12:33 a.m. and behind a commercial building in the 1700 block of Preston Avenue at 2:48 a.m.
The fire investigators in both fires considered the two incidents to be suspicious due to the timelines.
The Delayen Crescent fire caused $1,000 in damage to a fence while it was an evergreen tree that was consumed by the blaze on Preston Avenue with arriving crews quickly extinguished it.
Almost two hours later, at 4:24 a.m., the SFD received a report of a structure fire in the 100 block of Kellins Crescent.
Three fire engines, one rescue unit, a ladder truck and the Battalion Chief were dispatched with the first arriving crews seeing a shed and fence fully involved.
It was determined that two fire engines can take on the fire and asked other incoming crews to return to their stations.
The fire was brought under control at 4:36 a.m. and a fire investigator was requested to the scene.
The fire, which is considered suspicious and caused $5,000 in damage, originated on the fence and spread to the shed.
The Saskatoon Police Service will continue with the investigation where they are asking anyone with information or evidence related to these fires, to call 306-975-8300.
