The region received a net increase in funding compared to last year鈥檚 base funding of $5.193 million or 2.7 per cent, which includes increases for salaries and benefits and primary care funding transferred to base. The provincial funding comes with the expectation that the region achieve efficiencies and funding recoveries with service adjustments and reviewing service delivery.

To arrive at a balanced budget in 2016-17, the health region will reduce non-salary expenditures, adjust revenue, utilize deferred funding and will not allocate inflationary funding, it said. Compensation expenditures will be managed by continuing with reductions in attendance targets, vacancy management, and straight time scheduling optimization.
