聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 Board members and other volunteers at the Power House Museum in Kamsack were pleased with the high turnout of persons who had attended their annual Harvest Fest on September 4.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Harvest Fest is the last official function for the season at the museum, said Lydia Cherkas, board chair. Admittance to the facility between now and the next season, which begins on the May long weekend, is by appointment only.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t was the best,鈥� said a board member, commenting on the high attendance at Harvest Fest and on the 鈥渓ightest and fluffiest pancakes鈥� ever.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淚t was cool,鈥� Cherkas said. 鈥淚t was well attended and we were pleased to have seen a number of people who do not normally attend our functions.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淲e served well over 100 plates of breakfast.鈥�
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The event began with the pancake breakfast which makes use of Ed Yurkiw鈥檚 鈥渟ecret gourmet recipe鈥� for the pancakes which were served with sausages and whipped cream.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Working at the griddle were Marvin McKay, Cliff Paluck and Roy Nabe, while serving and doing other jobs in the kitchen with Cherkas were Connie McKay, Tannis Negrave, Eileen Chutskoff, Mary Vereschagin and Darlene Brown.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Peter Cherkas was the museum attendant because Daniel Ruten, who ended his fourth season as the summer attendant, had left for school. Betty Dix, board vice-chair, was in charge of the 50/50 ticket sales, while Bill Zbeetnoff was kept busy selling 2017 memberships at $5 per person and $7 per family.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 A small farmers鈥� market opened at 10 a.m. when Wendy Becenko sold garden produce and Roger Moore sold garden produce and his paintings.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 At noon hot dogs with cheese and fried onions were served along with pie and ice cream.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The afternoon entertainment consisted of a short concert by Theresa Sanderson of Keeseekoose First Nation, who sang while accompanying herself on guitar.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 In the draw for door prizes, the two meat baskets that had been donated by the Co-op meat department were won by Doug Thomas and Mary Vereschagin, while the Saskatchewan Roughriders ice bucket and stadium seat that had been donated by Connie and Marv McKay were won by Elsie LaRocque and Cliff Paluck respectively. Sterling Erhardt won the 50/50 draw.聽
