聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Sturgis branch of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation hosted its annual antler measuring event at the Sturgis Arena on December 9 when club members took in 17 sets of antlers and one bear skull to be scored.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Blair Mitchell was the official antler measurer.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 There were four moose, three elk, one bear, one typical mule deer and eight white-tailed deer measured.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "We had good turnout with some potential record-breaking antlers," said Rob Wilcott, president of the Sturgis branch.
聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The club had a quiet year, he said, adding that the group鈥檚 annual awards event is scheduled for April 29.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The executive for the new year remains the same as the last year with Wilcott as president; Alan Carlson, vice-president and membership chairperson; Daniel Wasylenchuk, secretary and treasurer; Kelly Masley, awards chairperson, and Russell Walker and Shirley Barbsy, fundraiser chairpersons.
聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 鈥淟ast year there were 205 active members and this year we expect there will be an increase because the sale of memberships is going well,鈥 Wilcott said.
