Sturgis museum experiences a busy summer

The Sturgis Station House Museum held many events over the summer which was highlighted by the move of the Brookeview School onto the grounds two weeks ago.

聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 聽 The Sturgis Station House Museum held many events over the summer which was highlighted by the move of the Brookeview School onto the grounds two weeks ago.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "Something new this year was the summer markets hosted twice a month on the grounds of the museum,鈥 said Myrtle Boychuk. 鈥淚t is followed by a lunch on the grounds.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The museum members also accepted a donation from the Crossroads Credit Union. Leanne Christianson and Doreen Bochnuik made the presentation on behalf of the credit union on August 19.

鈥淭he donation will be utilized in the upkeep and maintenance of the museum," said Boychuk.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "The museum strives to make progress through the season with many projects," said Sarah Brown, curator. "The deck received a complete renovation with deck and steps 小蓝视频 replaced. The old boards were used to make a new floor in the upstairs cold storage closet. The continued renovation of the upstairs of the building has been an ongoing project. We shifted our focus to reorganization and reshaping of all the artifacts.鈥

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 The upstairs of the museum has three main displays that feature a pioneer room, a toy room and a sewing room. Shelving units were donated and will be used to help display and store artifacts.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 "We are following through with plans that were made last year," said Brown. "The school has definitely been a huge interest in the community and at the museum. It has been a huge year with a lot happening.

鈥淲e will be hosting the annual wind-up on Sunday with a supper and entertainment evening," she said.
