Sturgis Kinsmen gearing up for annual Mini-Miracle

The Sturgis Kinsmen and Kinettes are preparing for the annual Mini-Miracle and organizers have said they have a full stage of talent lined up.

The Sturgis Kinsmen and Kinettes are preparing for the annual Mini-Miracle and organizers have said they have a full stage of talent lined up.

The annual Mini-Miracle is scheduled for February 28 at the Sturgis Composite School, said Daniel Wasylenchuk, co-chair of Sturgis Mini-miracle.

"All monies raised at the annual Telemiracle which includes the amount raised during the Sturgis Mini-Miracle goes directly towards the local individuals in the province who require assistance," said Wasylenchuk.

Sturgis Kinsmen Mini-Miracle has raised over $858,000 over the years, said Eugene Boychuk, Kinsmen member.

鈥淧eople can call their pledges into the Sturgis Composite School or give their donations to participants along the road through the hospital bed push or Mini-Marathon events,鈥 he said.

The Preeceville Hospital is once again gearing up towards its annual bed push on February 28. The bed push will leave approximately at 2 p.m. from the hospital and make its way downtown and along the highway to Sturgis. The proceeds will be presented at the Sturgis Kinsmen and Kinettes annual Mini-Miracle, which will be broadcasted live on CJGX-94 radio station on February 28.

The Sturgis Kinsmen will also be collecting donations along their marathon run from Canora to Sturgis on that same day, he said. The marathon of Sturgis Composite School students, SRC members and Kinsmen members will leave Canora approximately at 11 a.m. and make their way back to Sturgis.

Solange Simard, the GX-94 Star Search winner, is scheduled to perform along with a whole slate of local talent.

She began formal music training at the age of six, taking piano and voice lessons, and began teaching herself ukulele at 12. She continues her music education taking band, guitar and voice and has been writing her own songs for some time. When she is not making music she also enjoys reading, swimming, theatre and arts of all kinds. Lamont is honoured and excited to be a part of Telemiracle 43 in Saskatoon, stated a release from the Sturgis Kinsmen.

"We are excited to announce that Derwood and The Renegades will be part of our numerous talents scheduled to perform," said Eugene Boychuk, one of the organizers.

The group is also scheduled to perform at Telemiracle held in Saskatoon on March 2 and 3.

Christian Dales, known as Derwood,聽grew up on a dairy farm located just outside of Melville, stated a press release from Boychuk.

From an early age he was always interested in all types of music and started playing an acoustic guitar around the age of 12. He then graduated to an electric guitar when he was 14 and has spent the majority of the last 20 years playing it, according to the release.

Local entertainment scheduled for the Mini-Miracle evening includes: Sherry Lesser, Chris Fisher, Laura Davis, Cassandra Danyluk, Jesse Geni and the GSSD band.

Telemiracle Teddy is scheduled to make his rounds to the schools in the area the week prior to the event.

Sturgis Kinsmen and Kinettes members will be traveling to Saskatoon to work some shifts at Telemiracle and will be making their own on-air presentation from what is raised during the Mini-Miracle on Sunday between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

The annual Telemiracle broadcast will be from Saskatoon TCU Place on March 2 and 3.
